Week ending...rain beginning...
The sheeting on the main floor was done before the work stopped Friday due to rain. Supposed to have bad weather until Wednesday so a little disappointed that we can't keep going...BUT...it's getting there.

We're 'movin' on UP'!!
What an exciting day! We went up to check out the progress and found that we can now WALK on our upstairs level...and the view??
Do you want to see it? Okay...be patient!
First...take a look at the basement. It is pretty well framed in...enough to get an idea of what the size of everything will be. I'm excited to go with tape measure in hand to figure out furniture placements etc. (or am I jumping the gun?) Can't help it, just so excited to see something other than dirt!!
OKAY, NOW...
LOOKING TO THE RIGHT....
AND LOOKING TO THE LEFT!!

LET'S GO UP!
Most of the joists are in and the sheeting is almost done...the main floor reveals itself! The posts in the top right corner are part of the garage walls! |
Still a few sheets to go (hopefully today) |
READY TO SEE THE VIEW???
LOOKING TO THE RIGHT....
AND LOOKING TO THE LEFT!!
AHHHHHHHH!!!!
WE THINK WE MAY HAVE GOTTEN IT RIGHT!

Joists ...check!
Here is what Mike saw today...the joists which will be holding up the main floor were set today...most are in and tomorrow they should be laying the rest and also the plywood so we can actually walk on the main level.
That will give us the first look at the view we will have from the house. Throughout the planning process we wanted to get the house up high enough to get the most of the view...tomorrow we will find out if we were successful. It was tough 'guessing' where we'd end up and can't wait to see!
Looking down...basement walls all framed and joists being laid |
Half of the joists are in! The rest going in tomorrow and plywood too! |
Garage wall going up!! I can't remember it being that high?? I'm going to check the plans tonight! |
More walls up in Basement
We were disappointed yesterday when we went up to the lot and found that not much work had been done...however, there were workers there and a few more walls raised and right before we left the framing 'Boss' showed up. Really nice man, answered a bunch of questions and told us that he and most of his crew would be on our site for the rest of the week. (let's hope!)
Here is what was done as of yesterday. Mike went up today and I'm hoping that things have progressed even further but I'm afraid to be too hopeful...isn't that sad??
Anyway, onward and upward!! (as in up to the main floor!!)

And the framing begins!
Well it's been a long wait but at last we are moving forward...framing began yesterday. Mike spoke to one of the framers and they said if they had a full crew it would only take 5-8 days. But they didn't have a full crew (bummer) so we are looking at 2-3 weeks. (assuming everything goes well). This is going to be fun (I hope) watching the house take shape.

Lumber!!! Does this mean what I think it means??
Will we actually be able to start framing??? Can it be so??
We have been hearing about this 'framing' notion for quite some time now ...days, weeks, months...truly it looks like framing may begin.
The lumber was delivered Monday and Tuesday, even though it rained, it appears as if there was someone/s there to start the chalk lines and placing the first boards.

A beautiful sunset over the lumber boards that have given us so much hope!!

Basement floor poured
Lots of weather the past week or so...good thing we were able to get the concrete floors poured.
We were hoping to see framing started this week but apparently having trouble getting power to the lot so maybe by next week.
